HYPOCRITE-IN-CHIEF WANTS TO LOWER GAS PRICES TO RAISE HIS APPROVAL RATING
My oh my, what problems we create for ourselves when stubborn ideology gets in the way of political reality. As the price of gas heads north and O’s approval rating heads south, the Hypocrite-in-Chief is suddenly singing a different tune on the price of gas. Don’t listen to it.
With gas prices up over 100% since he took office and his approval rating down to 41%, O will do everything he can to make it look like he wants lower gas prices. And just for good measure – as is always the case with O – he’ll continue to blame the Republicans for the pain at the pump. Yep, Mr. “The Buck Never Stops Here” is in full panic mode, America – and he’s doing his damnedest to backhoe and fill.
Two days after blocking the Keystone XL Pipeline project, O had the cojones to say:
“Ending this cycle of rising gas prices won’t be easy, and it won’t happen overnight. But that’s why you sent us to Washington – to solve tough problems like this one. So I’m going to keep doing everything I can to help you save money on gas, both right now and in the future. I hope politicians from both sides of the aisle join me. Let’s put aside the bumper-sticker slogans, remember why we’re here, and get things done for the American people.”
Really, O? What’s next, oil wells on the White House lawn?
(As an aside, did you really say, “Let’s put aside the bumper-sticker slogans,” Mr. “Yes We Can”? Hell, O -you even have a logo. And you’re feigning “Let’s put aside the bumper-sticker slogans”? Who are you trying to fool – other than “less-than-informed” Democrats?
Excuse my cynicism, O, but I’m having a hard time believing that you’re “doing every you can” to help Americans “save money on gas.” You’ve said repeatedly that “we can’t drill our way out of soaring gas prices,” and you sure as hell can’t believe that ending subsidies for oil exploration will help Americans “save money on gas,” right?
Truth be told, were it not for your plummeting approval rating, you’d be cheering the ever-rising price of gas behind closed doors with Energy Secretary Steven Chu, wouldn’t you? Remember what you who said during the 2008 campaign?
“Under my plan, energy costs would necessarily skyrocket.”
Your “plan” is working like a charm, O; gas prices are skyrocketing. And it sounds like Mr. Chu has been onboard with your plan from the beginning:
“Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels of Europe.”
So now, we’re supposed to believe that – all of a sudden – you want to lower gas prices? Seriously? You sneeringly called oil a “fuel of the past” just last week, c’mon now. Besides, we both know that it’s all part of your scheme to make people mad at the oil companies so they’ll embrace your failed alternative energy policy.
Fess up, O – you’re not really interested in lowering the price of gas. Your only concern is raising your approval rating. And like all good Democrats, you’ll throw your own left-wing ideology under the bus in a heartbeat when it gets in the way of your political objectives. It’s who you are, O – it’s what you do.
We see through your charade. Let’s hope that continues through November.
Maybe O will open a government-subsidized gas station in front of the White House.
